Guardians of the Four Winds

The pattern-building mechanic keeps everyone at the table engaged right up to the final move, no downtime waiting for your turn. Building the shared play area together makes each round feel different. Two plays in and it's already my go-to for four players.

The common play area mechanic is what sold me—you're all building the same board, so every Spirit Guardian you place changes what your opponents can do next. Taught it to three friends in ten minutes and we played four rounds straight.

Didn't expect a pattern-building game to get this competitive, but the race to complete a Guardian set had my whole table leaning in. Turns are quick so nobody's sitting around waiting, and the art on the Spirit cards is gorgeous.
